CJRA

The Canadian Junior Roughstock Association

CJRA was officially incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in 2022. Created by a group of volunteers who had worked with stock contractor, Michael Podolak of Rafter 6P Rodeo Co, in 2021 to produce a series of junior roughstock events called the Rafter 6P Chute-Out Series. The CJRA has quickly developed into the leading junior roughstock association in Canada with a total of 22 kids qualifying to represent Canada internationally at the Junior World Finals over the 2021, 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Rafter 6P was proud of the success in the inaugural season which saw 6 competitors and 18 horses cross the border and represent Canada at the World Finals. Two of those competitors, would go on to make the finals round which was proof of the hard work that was done to prepare to compete at this level. Additionally, many of these junior competitors experienced significant success as they built on their new found skills at rodeos on both sides of the border.

What began as an initiative to create a “Road To Vegas” for local, junior roughstock competitors who wanted to compete at a higher level, the CJRA has taken shape as one of the strongest junior rodeo associations in Canada. Supported by the Junior Roughstock Association, the CJRA is committed to working with competitors who want to learn or enhance their skills to the highest level.

Starting in 2023, the CJRA offered event sanctioning to rodeo producers across Canada. CJRA sanctioned events from coast to coast will allow young competitors the opportunity to compete locally and earn points and earnings which will allow them to qualify for the CJRA National Finals and ultimately a seat the the World Finals in Las Vegas.
